Dear Friend,
Have you ever had a hard time learning something? Sometimes, no matter how hard you study, you still might not get the grade you hope for. Maybe the person next to you doesn’t even have to study to get an A+. I see more than just grades. I know what effort you put into your work.
Or perhaps you know someone who’s a good athlete and makes lots of goals. Maybe you go to every practice and try very hard, but you just don’t shine as much on the field. I see the true effort, not just the results that others see. I can see your heart.
One day in the temple, I showed this to my disciples…
Your friend,
Jesus
Mark 12:41-44
He sat down opposite the treasury, and watched the crowd putting money into the treasury. Many rich people put in large sums. A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which are worth a penny. Then he called his disciples and said to them, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the treasury. For all of them have contributed out of their abundance; but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.”
In my life …
Jesus, help me to do my best and not worry too much about what other people think of me. I see that the widow you spoke about had given all she had and didn't hold back. She trusted that God would give her what she needed in her life. Let me trust you too and know that I will please you if I give all my strength in doing what is right.
