Between Friends – The Pharisee and the Tax Collector

A letter from Jesus

Read in a children’s Bible or from a missalette: Luke 16:19–31

Dear Friends,

Bragging is one of those things that some people do a lot of. They might do it to feel better about themselves, but their bragging often leads others to feel hurt, self-conscious, or even stupid. When we think only about how great we are, we leave no room in our hearts for other people. We need to remember that all of us are given gifts that are special and important. I ask my followers to have my attitude: to be humble and thoughtful and caring.

I gave my disciples this parable as an example.

Signed,
Your friend, Jesus

In my heart …

Dear Jesus, your words make me think. I want to be honest and humble like you. Help me to encourage my friends with trust and hope.
